Transcendental Meditation

What is the

Transcendental Meditation

technique?

The TM technique is a simple–yet very effective–way to enjoy inner peace, dissolve stress, and access your full potential. TM practice is easy and enjoyable. Anyone can do it, sitting comfortably with eyes closed, for 20 minutes twice a day. There is no effort involved.

What happens in the mind

during TM Technique

Inner source of Energy,  Creativity, Intelligence and Peace.
This state is called  Consciousness or Unified Field

Every thought we have is constructed of energy and intelligence and creativity. During the Transcendental Meditation technique, our attention goes from a concrete level of thinking to subtler levels of thinking and even transcends thought itself to experience the inner field of pure consciousness, pure intelligence, which is not a correlate for—but is the same field of infinite intelligence that is at the source of all manifest creation.

That field of infinite potential which is the source of all manifest life is the source of thought within our minds. The reason that we aren’t using the full potential of our minds is that we haven’t been systematically and repeatedly tapping that source—until we learn the TM technique.

How is the TM technique different?

The Transcendental Meditation technique is distinct from all other forms of meditation. Other techniques maintain a level of mental activity at the surface of the mind. In contrast, TM practice is characterized by the settling down of mental activity, transcendence of thought, and an inward trajectory of the mind.

The TM technique gives rise to a unique state of brain functioning which has numerous holistic benefits. It is also completely effortless, and therefore much easier to master than other forms of meditation.

TM practice reduces cortisol, a hormone associated with stress, by 30%

When we are stressed the amygdala, or 'fear center', of our brain triggers the adrenal glands to release the stress hormone cortisol. Chronic stress is associated with elevated levels of cortisol, which often manifests as anxiety, depression, and irritability.

Regular TM practice reduces cortisol and helps the body maintain a more stable hormonal level.

Integrated brainwave functioning

EEG tests show that alpha-one brainwaves, which appear during TM practice, differ from the theta brainwaves associated with
mindfulness meditation. Alpha-one brainwaves support integrated brain functioning, leading to improved cognitive abilities and a state of calm alertness that extends beyond the meditation session.

TM practice results in better workplace interactions

The TM technique has been shown to lead to a significant improvement in emotional regulation, enabling us to maintain composure in tense situations. This enhanced emotional well-being improves personal relationships and workplace dynamics.

Employees who practice the TM technique report feeling happier and more fulfilled. This boost in happiness correlates with greater job satisfaction and enables employees to handle stress and pressure. In a range of studies in different workplace populations, participants noted increased composure and resilience and improved interactions with managers and colleagues.

Founder of

Transcendental Meditation

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi spent 13 years studying with his teacher, a renowned custodian of the thousands-year-old tradition of ancient Vedic wisdom. Maharishi revived, systematized, and demystified the teaching of TM to share it with people throughout the world to develop their consciousness.

By 1958, Maharishi was traveling the world teaching the Transcendental Meditation technique. He oversaw the training of thousands of certified TM teachers and established a non-profit foundation to preserve the authenticity of the TM technique for generations to come.
