The Academy of Arts for Enlightenment, Performing Beyond Limits Programme, warmly invites artistic directors, choreographers, and industry leaders, to explore the extensive range of benefits presented in this Summit, that are now available to educators and students of professional dance and ballet in all countries.
Our Approach
The Academy of Arts for Enlightenment Performing Beyond Limits offers practical solutions to the common problems experienced by professional dancers, such as physical strain, mental pressure, and creative and emotional block.
Performing Beyond Limits advocates the Science of Consciousness and technology of Transcendental Meditation (TM) as a simple, natural effective means to support the professional and personal life of the dancer. TM has been documented by hundreds of peer-reviewed scientific research studies over the past 60 years. Dancers and performing artists of all genres who have integrated TM into their daily routines, cultivate an integrated state of mental and physical health, personal well-being, and creative excellence, allowing dancers to more naturally and effectively achieve their goals.
By integrating this approach, we aim to create a healthier, more sustainable path for dancers and the entire dance community.
Florian Tilly, Director of Performing Beyond Limits
Transcendental Meditation and Scientific Research
Over 380 original peer-reviewed studies on the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique, have been published since 1970. This extensive body of research is unique in the field of meditation and self-improvement modalities, demonstrating that TM provides profound benefits to mental and physical health, emotional well-being, and creative expression. When practiced collectively, these benefits are compounded, contributing to social coherence and harmony within the group.
TM practice reduces cortisol, a hormone associated with stress, by 30%
When we are stressed the amygdala, or 'fear center', of our brain triggers the adrenal glands to release the stress hormone cortisol. Chronic stress is associated with elevated levels of cortisol, which often manifests as anxiety, depression, and irritability.
Regular TM practice reduces cortisol and helps the body maintain a more stable hormonal level.
Integrated brainwave functioning
EEG tests show that alpha-one brainwaves, which appear during TM practice, differ from the theta brainwaves associated with
mindfulness meditation. Alpha-one brainwaves support integrated brain functioning, leading to improved cognitive abilities and a state of calm alertness that extends beyond the meditation session.
TM practice results in better workplace interactions
The TM technique has been shown to lead to a significant improvement in emotional regulation, enabling us to maintain composure in tense situations. This enhanced emotional well-being improves personal relationships and workplace dynamics.
Employees who practice the TM technique report feeling happier and more fulfilled. This boost in happiness correlates with greater job satisfaction and enables employees to handle stress and pressure. In a range of studies in different workplace populations, participants noted increased composure and resilience and improved interactions with managers and colleagues.
